Gordon Nickerson

DRACUT- Gordon L. Nickerson Jr., 66, died peacefully, Thursday evening, December 18, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Daigle) Nickerson with whom he just shared his 35th wedding anniversary on December 2nd. Gordon was born in Everett, MA on July 13, 1948. He was the son of the late Gordon L. Sr. and Adeline (Levett) Nickerson. He spent his early years in Revere and was a graduate of Revere High School. Prior to his retirement, Gordon was employed at MIT where he worked as a custodian for more than 20 years. Previously he was employed at Wang Lab for 10 years, prior to their closing. In his free time Gordon loved and lived for camping and would travel with his camper everywhere. He had a love for antique cars and enjoyed going to various car shows with his wife, and was also an avid Coca Cola collector and cherished his collection. Gordon was also a diehard New England sports fan, but above all his most cherished time was spent with his loving family. In addition to his wife, Gordon is survived by his three children, Charles Nickerson and his wife Melissa of Londonderry, NH, Gordon L. Nickerson III of Dracut, and Joseph R. Nickerson and his wife Ashley of Lowell; his siblings Bruce Nickerson of Haverhill and Cindy Ferrero and her husband Jack of Freedom, NH; his sisters-in law, Dru Fitzgerald and her husband Carl of Salem, NH, Sandra Deloge and her husband George of Dracut and Barbara Barringham and her husband Harold of CT; his cherished granddaughters, Theresa and Hailey Nickerson; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Ronald Nickerson. SALEM, NH- Robert S. Greene, 54, of Dracut, died on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Northeast Rehab in Salem, NH. He was the beloved husband of Tina E. (Albert) Greene, with whom he shared twelve loving years of marriage with. Robert was born in Malden on October 2, 1960, son of Hannah (Lord) Greene, and the late Robert F. Greene. He was educated in Melrose and a graduate of Melrose High School. Robert was employed as a maintenance and electronic engineer at Microsemi Microwaves in Lowell for many years. Robert enjoyed photography, reading, working with computers, and fixing cars. He also loved all different types of music. In addition to his wife, Tina and his mother Hannah, Robert is survived by his brother David Greene and his wife Laura of Melrose and his niece Caitlyn as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends and coworkers. DRACUT- Joseph J. DiCarlo Sr., 93, died peacefully at his home on Friday, December 26, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Vita P. (Rugnetta) DiCarlo. Joseph was born in Arielli, Italy on April 7, 1921. He was the son of the late Rocco and Mary (DiFabio) DiCarlo. He was educated in the North End of Boston. Prior to his retirement, Joseph was employed as a milk man for 33 years and later in life helped his son open and operate Scolas Restaurant in Dracut for 15 years. Joseph was a Cub Scout Leader and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Stoneham, local 489. He was a member of the Sons of Italy in Stoneham as well. He loved watching movies and in his younger years enjoyed boating. Above all his most cherished time was spent with his loving family. He is survived by his four children, Philip DiCarlo of Florida, Joseph J. DiCarlo Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Dracut, Robert DiCarlo and his wife Kathy of Carver, MA, and Michael DiCarlo and his wife Debbi of Carver, MA; his daughter-in-law Debbie DiCarlo of Plaistow; as well as his siblings Rosie Resendezes and her husband Al of Everett, Josephine Barley of Everett, Nicolette Brogna and her husband Edward of Everett, and Mario DiCarlo of Saugus; as well as his 23 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his son Edward DiCarlo in 2007. LOWELL- Rocco F. Carter, 77, died on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Linda J. (Ouellet) Carter who predeceased him on April 4, 1997. Rocco was born in Lowell on January 7, 1937, the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Lorenzo) Carter. He was educated and was a graduate of Lowell High School. Prior to his retirement Rocco was employed at Lahey Clinic in Maintence for 20 years. In his free time Rocco loved spending time with his family especially with his grandson. He was a caring, great, and loving father and will be missed deeply. He is survived by his six children, Joann Carter-Hassam and Jamie Hassam and their son Hunter, Kevin Carter and his wife Deb, Rocco Carter Jr. and his wife Julie, Jimmy Carter and his wife Pam, Paul Carter and his wife Jennifer, and Roxanne Carter; his sisters Dolly, Josie, and Sandra; as well as several grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Rocco was predecased by his sister Mary Carter. DRACUT- Michael F. Thibodeau, 54, died at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 29, 2014. Michael was born in Lowell on November 5, 1960, the son of the late Paul and Colleen (O’Connell) Thibodeau. He was a graduate of the Greater Lowell Vocational Technical High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged in 1981. Michael loved playing poker, and was always a gentleman at the poker table. He was a genuine, easy going guy who would have given you the shirt off of his back if you asked. He will forever be a great friend, and remembered as such. He is survived by his brother, Mark Thibodeau of Wakefield; his two sisters, Paula Thibodeau of Lowell, and Mary Witkos and her husband John of Dracut; two nephews, William and Thomas Witkos; two uncles, Brian O’Connell and his wife Elizabeth “Betty” of Litchfield, NH, and Raymond Thibodeau of Manchester, NH; his best friend Peter Perreault; as well as many cousins and extended family. Michael’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Boston and Lowell VA Healthcare system and also to The Circle Home Health for their care and compassion provided to Michael as well as his family. BOSTON- Walter R. Martin, 73, of Dracut, died unexpectedly on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Cheryl A. (Dean) Martin who passed away on April 23, 2014. Walter was born in Lowell on February 23, 1941, son of the late Walter J. and Madeline (Vaillancourt) Martin. He was educated in Lowell, and was a graduate of Lowell High School. He then joined the United States Air Force where he served proudly before being honorably discharged. Prior to his retirement, he worked at BASF/Fuji Micro Film for over thirty-five years. Walter’s pride and joy were his seven grandchildren. He loved the time he spent with them by sharing his devilish humor and spinning wonderful tales. Walter was an avid sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He also enjoyed woodworking and spent much of his spare time creating small treasures for his family. Walter will always be remembered for his incredible generosity and selflessnes. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will forever be missed by his family and friends, but will be reunited with his beloved wife, Cheryl. Chelmsford, MA- Lauretta (Wagner) Jacques, 104, died peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford. She was the beloved wife of the late Wolfred Jacques. Lauretta was born in Lowell on March 1, 1910, a daughter of the late Gedeon and Aldea (Rivet) Wagner. Lauretta devoted her life to her family whom she loved and cared for deeply. Her most cherished time was spent with them. She also enjoyed playing piano, singing, and was an avid Red Sox fan. Lauretta is survived by her 4 children, Richard Jacques of Lowell, Gabrielle Lavoie of East Kingston, NH, Gloria Labbe of FL, and Rachel Breault of Dracut; daughter-in-law Elaine Jacques; 8 grandchildren, Louis “Butch”, Mark, Todd, Michael L., Susan, Leanne, Robyn, and Lesa; as well as 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Andre Jacques; grandson Michael Jacques; 3 great grandsons; 7 brothers, Leo, Lionel, Rene, Laurier, Bernard, Edward, and Richard Wagner; 4 sisters Gabrielle Wagner, Aline Shannon, Judith Carmody, and Rachel Beauregard and her 3 son-in-laws, Louis Lavoie, Gerard Labbe and Ronald Breault. DRACUT, MA- Mary G. (McCarthy) Rush, 87, passed away Sunday, January 4th, peacefully, at D’Youville Manor Senior Care Center, Lowell. She was the beloved widow of the late James H. Rush, who died on June 11, 1990. Mary was born in Malden, MA on April 20, 1927, daughter of the late James and Anna (Klaus) McCarthy. She was educated in Malden and a graduate of Malden High School. Mary worked for many years for the Metlife Insurance Company before starting a family. She was a member of St. Francis church in Dracut, and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She volunteered as a girl scout leader, a member of various PTAs, at church functions, and worked at the voting polls. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Kathleen Stanton and her husband James of Salisbury, Lorraine Rush and her partner, Christine Wood of Milford, NH; son, Steven Rush and his wife, Barbara of Manchester, NH; daughter-in-law, Denise M. Rush of Lowell; six grandchildren, Ian, Jillian, Stephen and his wife Stephanie, Michael and his wife Ashley, Natalie and her fiancé Nick, and Jim and his wife Cassie; brother-in-law, Edward Bracken of Litchfield, NH; as well as four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son James Rush, who died on June 28, 2011 and her siblings, Peggy Bracken and James McCarthy. Donald Robitaille

DONALD F. ROBITAILLE Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Son-in-law RRT, BS, MBA DRACUT- Donald F. Robitaille, 67, passed peacefully in his home on January 2, 2015 with loved ones at his side. Don was married to Elaine (Loffredo) Robitaille with whom they celebrated 46 years of marriage in August, 2014. Don was born on February 20, 1947 to Leo and Lucille (Cavanaugh) Robitaille in Springfield, MA. Don was a resident of Tyngsboro in his youth and attended Tyngsboro Public school until his high school years where he then attended Lowell High and graduated in 1964. He played the trumpet with the Notini Dance Band. He also served in the Army Reserves as a medic. He attended Lowell Tech and transferred to Northeastern University and graduated with a BS degree. He continued his education at Rivier in NH and graduated Summa Cum Laude with an MBA. He found his passion for the medical field in his early 20’s while being employed as an orderly at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA. While at LGH as an orderly, he pursued a career in Respiratory Therapy. He later accepted a position at Choate Hospital in Woburn as Department Head of Respiratory Therapy and EKG Services. He is credited with managing and operating a startup Respiratory Home Care service Choate Hospital. After the merging of Choate-Symmes Hospitals, Don continued as Department Head for respiratory services. With the closing of these two merging hospitals, Don was then employed at Winchester Hospital in Winchester, MA as a staff therapist. he then transferred as a part-time respiratory therapist at New England Rehab and was entrepreneur of the Medical Storeroom in Woburn, MA. With the closing of his business, Don continued to work at New England Rehab in respiratory and retired from this position shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Don was recognized by his family, friends, coworkers and customers as being a well-loved, compassionate and selfless person who willingly served those in need. In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Randy and Jen Robitaille and his grandchild Lilianna Robitaille. He leaves his mother-in-law, Dorella (Gingras) Loffredo. He leaves two brothers and their wives, Leo and Marie Robitaille of Dracut and Paul and Bonnie Robitaille of Connecticut. He leaves a brother-in-law and his wife, David and Gail Robitaille and their children, Alexander and Emma Charow of Vermont. He is the brother-in-law of the late Elaine (Robert) Loffredo and son-in-law of the late Fred Loffredo. LOWELL, MA- Rita Y. (Breault) Jamieson, 88, died peacefully, Monday, January 5, 2015, at Heritage Nursing Care Center in Lowell with her family by her side. She was the loving widow of the late Robert A. Jamieson. Rita was born in Lowell, MA on March 26, 1926, a daughter of the late Omer and Yvonne (Chausse) Breault. Before retiring, Rita was employed as a telephone operator for Sears in Lowell and Nashua, NH for over 25 years. Her most cherished time was spent with her beloved family, who will miss her deeply. Rita is survived by her two children Karen Frazee and her husband Kirk of Chelmsford, and Kevin Jamieson and his wife Tina of Logan, WV; two sisters Doris Bergeron of Dracut and Cecile Pageot of Florida; four brothers Paul Breault and his wife Diane of Dracut, Roger Breault and his wife Doris of Dracut, Normand Breault and his wife Irene of Dracut, and Jerry Breault and his wife Bernadette of ME; sister-in-law Rachel Breault of Dracut; her three grandchildren, Kristen Frazee of Cambridge, Lauren Frazee of Waltham, and Tory Jamieson of WV; as well as many nieces and nephews. DRACUT, MA- Frances (Skrekas) Kane, a life long resident of Dracut, died on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the D’Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell, after a period of declining health. She was the loving widow of the late Francis “Frank” Kane, whom she was married for 49 years. Born and educated in Dracut, Frances was the daughter of the late Demetrios and Panagiota (Aridas) Skrekas. She was a graduate of Dracut High School, class of 1944. She was a bookkeeper at the Dracut Housing Authority for many years, before her retirement. Frances was a member of the Holy Trinity Hellenic Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell as well as the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Dracut. Frances was a wonderful wife, mother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is survived by her son Richard F. Kane and his wife Janice of Hopkinton, MA; her daughter Susan Burgess and her husband Frank of Windham, NH; three grandsons, Ryan, Richie, and Gregory Kane, all of Hopkinton and three granddaughters, Lisa Ward of Dracut, Kelly Burgess of Pelham, NH and Jennifer Burgess of Dracut; one great-grandson, Ryan Ignacio; brother, George Skrekas and his wife Avra of Lowell; sister Helen Barlow of Georgia; nephews James Skrekas, Thomas Skrekas, Robert Haavie, Arthur M. Kane and Tim Barlow; nieces Judy Zambrowski, Paula Gendron, Helen Louise Campos and Georgia Skrekas as well as several great nieces and great nephews. She was also the sister of the late Arthur Skrekas and Harry Skrekas, aunt of the late Deborah Skrekas; and sister-in-law of the late, Arthur Kane, Robert Barlow, Helen Skrekas, Christine Skrekas, Louise Murphy and Robert and Helen Haavie. LOWELL, MA- Richard “Muggy” Juknavorian, 87, died suddenly, Monday, January 5, 2015, at Tufts Medical Center, with his family by his side. He was married to his beloved wife, Virginia, for 67 years. Richard was born in Lowell, MA on February 28, 1927, a son of the late Altoon (Tarzian) and Giragos Juknavorian. Richard served his country during WWII as part of the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged. Muggy was a longtime and devoted member of St. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, where he served as a Trustee. He was also an Exalted Ruler of the Lowell Lodge of Elks and a member of the Armenian American Veterans of Lowell. Richard loved to travel with his wife, especially to Las Vegas and Florida. He also loved vacationing at the beach with his extended family. His favorite times were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and having large dinners with family and friends. Along with his wife, Virginia, Richard is survived and will be deeply missed by his 2 sons, Richard A. Juknavorian and his wife Janice of Methuen, and David G. Juknavorian of Lowell; grandchildren, Richard Juknavorian Jr. and his wife Susan and Julie Gaudioso and her husband John, and 2 great-granddaughters, Abigail and Serafina. Darrell Keene

LOWELL- Darrell Keene, 80, died peacefully at the Wingate at Belvidere in Lowell on Sunday, January 4, 2015, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Jane (Kievenaar) Keene, with whom he shared 57 loving years of marriage . Darrell was born in Boston on February 23, 1934, son to the late Walter Keene and Grace (Curtis) Gildred. He was educated in the Melrose school system and was a graduate of Melrose High School Class of 1952. Darrell proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he served on the USS Gearing from December 4, 1952 to November 28, 1956 until he was honorably discharged. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors the National Association of Destroyer Veterans. He then worked as a machinist for many years at various places in the area. Darrell loved carpentry, painting, gardening and was a talented woodworker. He was also a devout Christian with a deep faith in God. He was a member of the First United Baptist Church in Lowell where he had been a deacon, taught the Adult Bible Study and for over 30 years served home communion to the members of the church, unable to attend. Darrell is survived by his two daughters, Deborah Keene-McCallion and her husband George of Dracut, and Brenda Gentle and her husband Brian of Rochester, NH; three grandchildren Matthew Gentle, Ian, and Alyssa McCallion; an aunt Virginia Ransom and her husband Billy of Texas; as well as his in-laws Carolyn Bohling and her husband John of Wakefield, William Kievenaar and his wife Barbara of Greenfield, and Ruth Kievenaar of Florida. He is predeceased by his beloved grandson Kyle Gentle and his brother, Wayne Keene. PEPPERELL, MA- Paul N. Robarge, 72, died peacefully, Thursday, January 7, 2015 at Kindred Green Briar Terrace in Nashua, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Leona (Cryan) Robarge, to whom he was married for 53 years. Paul was born in Lowell, MA on September 24, 1942, son of the late Paul N. Robarge and Stella Robarge – Fitzpatrick and her husband James Fitzpatrick. He was educated in Lowell and a graduate of Lowell High School and then attended Bently College. Paul was a tax accountant and enjoyed helping his family and friends during tax season. He also was involved in Car sales for 25 years. Paul enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and was an avid Patriots Fan. However, his most cherished time was spending time with his family whom he loved so much. Along with his wife Leona, Paul is survived and will be deeply missed by his children, Marylee Enos and her husband Stephen Enos, Karen Asselin and her husband Robert Asselin, Diana Hall and her husband Stephen Hall, Mark Robarge and his wife Angela, Eric Robarge and his wife Geraldine and Paul Robarge and his wife Jessica; 15 cherished grandchildren, Kristina Knight and her husband Rick, Lauren Potvin and her husband Jeff, Nicholas Asselin and his wife Danielle, Nicole DeBrum, Kristen Enos, Sarah Asselin, Mark Robarge Jr., Amanda Hall, Alicia Robarge, Tyler Hall, Paul Robarge IV, John, Samantha, Christopher, and Olivia Robarge; 5 great-grandchildren, Loreyna, Kian, Richard, Ella and Connor; his siblings, Marie Koen, Barbara Bernier, Sylvia Safstrom and her husband Louie, James Fitzpatrick Jr and his wife Brenda and Maryanne Neville and her husband James; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dracut, MA – Shelly A. Draper, 44, resident of Dracut, MA, formerly of Framingham, MA, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2015 after many long illnesses. She was born in Boston on December 7, 1970. Her family wishes to thank her many longtime care givers for their loving care during the past number of years. Shelly will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Shelly participated in the Framingham Chapter 766 program for a number of years, and very much enjoyed her summer vacations with her friends and staffers at the Camp Arrowhead summer program in Natick. She leaves her sister Marian Draper of Leominster, and her Father and Stepmother Robert and Barbara Draper of Framingham. DRACUT- William A. “Biff” Lewis 70, died suddenly at his home on, Thursday, January 8, 2015. He was the husband of Barbara E. Lewis, to whom he was married for 39 years. William was born in Boston, MA on May 7, 1944, a son of the late Ida (Reid) and Bud Lewis. He was raised and educated in Arlington and a graduate of Arlington High School, class of 1962. William served his country proudly as part of the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, until being honorably discharged. For 20 years, Biff worked in auto part sales for Dracut Auto Parts. He later worked as a home health aide for Commonwealth Nursing until his retirement. Biff enjoyed deep sea fishing and coin collecting and was a lifetime member of the DAV. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Along with his wife Barbara, Biff is survived by his 4 children, Paul Lewis of Dracut, Clayton Lewis and his wife Sara also of Dracut, Alisha Velasquez and her husband Matthew of North Andover and Leslie Callahan and her husband Peter of Leominster; sister, Linda Wallace and her husband Herb of Derry, NH; 9 grandchildren, Bobby, Xavier, Maggie, Amelia, Trey, Addison, Ryan, Elyanna and Evelyn; as well as several nieces and nephews. ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on WEDNESDAY, January 14th from 3 – 7 p.m. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. DRACUT- Henry “Hank” Edward Jabczanka, 66, died on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Janice (Bagdonas) Jabczanka, who shared 42 years of marriage in June. Henry was born in Lowell on January 2, 1949. He was the son of the late Walter Sr. and Agatha Jabczanka. Henry was educated in the Lowell School system and was a graduate of Lowell High School and furthered his education and graduated from North Eastern University. He was employed as a Xerox technician for 30 years until he retired due to his illness. Henry was able to fix anything that was broken and loved to tinker with things, especially fixing electronics. But above all, his most cherished time was spent with his loving family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Michael H. Jabczanka and Thomas H. Jabczanka both of Pelham; his two brothers Walter Jabczanka Jr. of Ipswich, MA and Ted Jabczanka and his wife Corrine of Londonderry, NH; as well as several in-laws, nieces and nephews. DRACUT, MA- Gilberte L. (Maille) Rodrigue, 89, died peacefully Saturday, January 17th, at D’Youville Manor Senior Care Center in Lowell. She was the loving widow of the late Raymond E. Rodrigue. Gilberte was born in Lowell, MA on October 22, 1925, a daughter of the late Leona (Desroisers) and Adrian Maille. For many years she worked at Wang Laboratories in Lowell. Gilberte was a longtime communicant of St. Marguerite D’Youville Parish/ St. Theresa’s church in Dracut where she dedicated her time being the Eucharistic minister. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughter Linda Robitaille and her husband Thomas of Newport, NH; her granddaughter Heather Lynne Robitaille of Stowe, VT; as well as several nieces,nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond Maille, and her sister Adrianne Abodeely.
