DRACUT, MA- Claire A. (Patenaude) Lanier, 75, a lifelong resident of Dracut, passed away Thursday, December 4th, at Lowell General Hospital, Lowell. She was the wife of Henry R. Lanier, to who she was married for over 50 years. Claire was born in Dracut, MA on November 15, 1939, a daughter of the late Cecile (Jambard) and Edmour F. Patenaude. She received her primary school education at Ste. Jeanne d’Arc and is a graduate of Dracut High School. Claire enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, and other crafts. She was fond of the outdoors and spent many years as a Girl Scout leader. She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed many musicals as a season ticket holder at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. Most importantly, Claire devoted her life to loving and caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be deeply missed. Along with her husband, Claire is survived by her 4 children: Donna Yackel of Dracut, Raymond Lanier of Dracut, Cheryl Calhoun and her husband Chris of Vershire, VT, and Rebeca Coffey and her husband Michael of Dracut; 6 beloved grandchildren, Leighann and Matthew Yackel, Cassandra and Scott Calhoun, and Gabrielle and Aidan Coffey; and one great-grandchild, Jaylin Roman. She is also survived by her 6 siblings: Elaine Rupp of Pelham, NH, Ronald Patenaude and his wife Lorraine of Fort Pierce, FL, Carol Hebert and her husband Raymond of Dracut, Carl Patenaude and his wife Kathy of Dracut, Ness Patenaude of Dracut, and Ed Patenaude of Chelmsford, as well as several nieces and nephews. Germain Bellemare

DRACUT- Germain “Sam” L. Bellemare, 95, died peacefully Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Palm Center Nursing Home in Chelmsford, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris (Bourassa) Bellemare with whom he shared 62 years of marriage with until her passing in 2001. Sam was born in Lowell on April 30, 1919. He was the son of the late Joseph and Ida (Germain) Bellemare. He was predeceased by his 12 brothers and sisters. Sam proudly served his country in the United States Army during W.W.II until being honorably discharged in 1945. He participated in the siege at Normandy Beach and was a true American hero to his family. Prior to his retirement, Sam was employed as a correctional officer at the Massachusetts Correctional Institute for 23 years and prior to that was employed as a mill worker. Sam was the face of the first Mass Gun Campaign and was seen on billboards and ads across the state. He was an exceptional athlete in his day and played semi pro baseball for the Canadian Athletic Club and the U.S. Army League at Cape Cod. He was a star pitcher and first baseman, dubbed “Flash Bellemare” by his teammates and fans. Despite such recognition Sam was always a quiet, proud and humble man. He was also a licensed Ham Radio Operator and handcrafted spectacular model airplanes. His garden was a huge source of pleasure and pride and his tomatoes were the best in town. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and watching his Red Sox win three World Series. He is survived by his children, David Bellemare and his wife Dotti of Tyngsboro with whom he made his home , Connie Farley and Denise Platanites of Dracut; his grandchildren, Mike and Kevin Farley, Cheryl Dodds, Tracy Encarnacao, Todd Bellemare, Sara and Nicole Platanites; as well as his great-grandchildren, Hannah Farley, Sidney and Patrick Dodds, Trevor and Olivia Encarnacao and Jordan and Lia Bellemare. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, on MONDAY, December 8th from 4 until 8 PM. His Funeral Mass will be held from the Funeral Home on TUESDAY, December 9th at 8 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 9 AM in St. Francis Church, Dracut. DRACUT– Sheila N. Walsh, 79, of Dracut died peacefully on Sunday, December 7th at the Blaire House in Tewksbury. Sheila was born in Lowell on February 28, 1935 to the late John J. and Julia (Moynahan)Walsh. She received her education in the Lowell school system. She then went on to attend Emmanuel College in Boston, where she earned her Bachelors Degree in education. Prior to her retirement, Sheila was a teacher in the Tewksbury Public School System for over 30 years. Sheila was very active in the Tewksbury Teachers Association, serving as its president for several years, and also in the Massachusetts Teachers Association. Following retirement Sheila also worked for many years at the Dracut Public Library. Dracut, MA- Sharon E. (Burns) Beckwith, 72, passed away Monday, December 8th, at the Lowell General Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late James Beckwith. Sharon was born in Lowell, MA on March 6, 1942, a daughter of the late Hazel (Rowe) and Joseph Burns. For many years, Sharon worked as a nurse at the Lahey Clinic and Wesley Newton Hospital. She was also a Real Estate broker and a Justice of the Peace. She wore many different hats throughout her life, and succeeded at all of them. Sharon was an avid gardener and had a love of flowers and the outdoors. Most of all however, she enjoyed spending time with her family whom she loved so much. She was survived by her 7 children, Gail Stamp and her husband Charles of Dracut, Jacqueline Gaffney and her husband John of Dracut, Russell Brodeur of Campton, NH, Kathleen Bragdon of Needham, Kerry Richie and her husband Phillip of San Diego, CA, Melissa Alexander of Waltham and Anne Beckwith of NC; brothers, Robert Burns and his wife Jacqueline of Lowell, Joseph Burns and his wife Deborah of Florida; sister, Kathleen Bateman of Dracut; as well as 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Maureen Farmer, brother, Richard Burns and son-in-law, Shawn Bragdon. TYNGSBORO, MA- Lola “Earlene” (Groves) Garland, 78, passed away Monday, December 8th, at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus. She was the loving wife of 38 years to Charles R. Garland. Earlene was born in Oklahoma City, OK on May 22, 1936, a daughter of the late Lola and William E. Groves. She moved to the area 38 years ago to start a life with her beloved husband. Earlene is survived and will be deeply missed by her 3 children, Tammy Mire and her husband Mike, Tony Burger and Tonja Burger all of Louisiana; her siblings, Silas Groves, Darlene Groves and Georgia Wilson, all of Oklahoma; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. DRACUT- Kenneth Ahlquist, 66, passed away suddenly Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Ruth Shaw-Lessard. Kenneth was born in Portsmouth, NH on November 26, 1948, a son of the late Mary (Joyce) and Frederick Ahlquist. He was educated in Maine and graduated from Traip Academy in Kittery, Maine, class of 1967 and also attended McIntosh Business College in Dover, NH. He was also certified in Homeland Security from UMASS Lowell. Ken served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Germany, until being honorably discharged. For many years he was employed as a realtor for Laer Realty Partners and had previously worked in various food service sales and management positions. He was a passionate Patriots fan, loved music and enjoyed dancing, and vacationing in York Beach with his wife, Ruth. Ken dedicated his time and effort coaching his children’s soccer and basketball teams, infamously with the “Green Team.” For many years Ken was an avid runner and participated in many road races including successfully completing the Mount Washington Road Race. In his younger years Ken was the proud drummer of a 1960’s band from the New Hampshire Seacoast area. Some of his favorite things were John Wayne Movies, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Shrimp/bacon pizza at the Bratskeller in Portsmouth. He cherished his family and of course loved spending time with them. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Ruth Shaw of Dracut; daughter, Brooke Elizabeth Ahlquist of Wells, ME; his son, Christopher Kenneth Ahlquist of Berwick, ME; 2 grandchildren, Sailor and Vandon Ahlquist; brother, Edwin Ahlquist and his wife Maryann of Kittery, ME; a sister, Brenda and her husband Clifford Bulley of Vallejo, CA; stepdaughter, Kris Lessard, stepson Keith Lessard and his wife Kim both of Dracut; step-grandchidren, Emily and Elizabeth Dobson, and Katie and Kyle Lessard, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles Ahlquist and Jack Joyce. DRACUT, MA- Rita B. (Roberts) Coughlin, 88, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, December 10th, at her home, surrounded by her devoted and loving family. Rita was born in Lowell, MA on May 23, 1926, a daughter of the late John J. and Anna V. (Garrity) Roberts. She was educated in Lowell and a graduate of Lowell High School. She lived through the Great Depression in a little Irish home with her parents and 11 brothers and sisters. She married the late Francis E. Coughlin in 1948 and began the next chapter of her remarkably brave and happy life. For many years, Rita worked as the district manager for the former Yum Yum Shops in Lowell, Chelmsford and Dracut. She was incredibly proud of her career and was known far and wide for her dedication and quick smile. Rita embraced her many roles ~ daughter, sister, mother, Nana, Nannie and sweet and funny friend. She was smart and strong, witty and supportive, kind and forgiving, unassuming and often “Bionic”. She was passionate about her family, her faith and her Red Sox and had a lot of luck and fun at the penny slots at Foxwoods. She left us with a laugh, a million rich memories, and more love than most ever experience. She had a mischievous zest for life and was as sweet as her chocolate cream pies and as snappy as her gingerbread men. Rita was treasured by her devoted children, Lois Bradbury and her husband Bill of Dracut; Dottie Bellemare and her husband Dave of Tyngsboro; Judy Coughlin of Dracut,with whom she made her home; Lee Coughlin and her husband Al Cooper of Amesbury; Fran Coughlin and his wife Katie of Mattapoisett; and Dan Coughlin and his wife Mary Jaye Simms of Los Angeles, CA; who all thought they were her “favorite”. She was cherished by her grandchildren, Katie (Themeles) Hudzick and her husband Steven; Daniel Themeles and his wife Stephanie; Tracy (Bellemare) Encarnacao and husband John; Todd Bellemare and his wife Andrea; Erin Shanahan and her husband Randy Negron; Adam Shanahan and his husband John; Kyle Shanahan; Anna (Cooper) Sedenka and her husband Brett; Tess Cooper-O’Neill and her husband Brian; Kelsey Coughlin and Rylie Coughlin; all whom she thought were “perfect in every way”. She was adored by her great grandchildren, Chloe, Macy and Maggie Hudzick; Trevor and Olivia Encarnacao; Jordan and Lia Bellemare; Emily Negron; Jack O’Neill; Cora and Avery Sedenka; all who loved the million kisses from Nannie. Rita is also survived by 6 of her beloved siblings, Eileen Shea, Sister Helen Roberts, O.S.F., Lally Curran, Fred, Paul and Walter Roberts her sisters in law, Theresa and Karen Roberts, and many nieces, nephews, grand and great nieces and nephews. Rita was a tiny girl who lived a big life, laughed much more than she cried, and loved more than most. She will be dearly missed and oh, so lovingly remembered by a grateful family and dear, dear friends. Lowell, MA- Stanley Jesylo, 81, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 6th, at Lowell General Hospital. Stanley was born in Lowell, MA on November 14, 1933, only son of the late Katherine (Swistak) and Joseph Jesylo. For many years, Stanley worked as an assembler for Symphonic Electronics in Lowell until it’s closing. Stanley was a kind and loving man who enjoyed nothing more then spending time at home with his niece, watching TV or relaxing on his recliner. In his younger years, he enjoyed listening to music and was also a member of several local bowling leagues. Stanley was predeceased by his 3 sisters, Helen Allison, Mary Jesylo and Stephanie Bindas. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his niece, Sandra Bindas of Lowell, with whom he resided. DRACUT – Sheila J. (Jinks) Flynn, 82, a longtime Dracut resident, died peacefully, Sunday morning, December 14, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas H. Flynn who predeceased her in 2002. Sheila was born in Birmingham, England on June 25, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Alice (Austin) Jinks. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as the studio manager for Loring Studios in Lowell and also worked at the former Jordan Marsh. Sheila was the proprietor of Flynn and Sons in Downtown Lowell. Sheila was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her many visits here and abroad with her English family. Sheila was an avid fan of Dracut Pop Warner and Dracut High School cheerleading activities. Sheila is survived by her four children, Terry (Currier) Flynn of Dracut, Richard T. Flynn and his wife Linda of Dracut, Christine Jinks Bradley and her husband Christopher of Dracut, Thomas A. Flynn and his wife Karen of Dracut; her brother Terence R. Jinks and her sister Alice Hemming all of Birmingham, England; as well as her sister-in-law and best friend Madeline Flynn of Pelham, NH.. Sheila is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Nicole, Ryan, Timothy, Steven, Laura, Caitlin, Christopher, Haley, and Jacob and her nine great-grandchildren Alyssa, Tyler, Madison, Gavin, Chelsea, Brody, Tessa, Bradley, and Camdin. She was predeceased by her three brothers Albert, Thomas, and Raymond Jinks. At Sheila’s request her calling hours will be held privately for family and close friends. DRACUT- Loretta C. (Masson) Gavlik, 92, died Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick J. Gavlik. She was born in Lowell on September 7, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Abraham and Aurora (Soucy) Masson. Loretta was educated in the Dracut school system. In her free time, she was an avid gardener but above all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Lorretta is survived by her two sons, Frederick A. Gavlik and his wife Theresa of Dracut and Richard Gavlik and his wife Nancy of Tynsgboro; her two daughters Nancy H. Milnes and her husband Daniel of Drauct and Joyce Webb and her husband Darrel of Bowling Greens, VA and her 3 sisters, Florence Allard of Dracut, Doris Pike of Dracut, and Julia Moore of Dracut. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren Alfred and Michael Carl, Richard and Marlene Gavlik, Justin and Rachel Webb, Michael McDowell, Donna O’Meara, and Brenda Dumont, as well as 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Roger and Leo Masson and sisters, Aurora Proulx, Theresa Vivier and Irene LaCourse. LOWELL- Joseph A. Nicolosi, 61, of Dracut, died following a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday December 14, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital. His last days were spent with his loving family and friends by his side. He was the beloved husband of Brenda K. (Mogé) Nicolosi, with whom he shared over 34 loving years of marriage with. Joseph was born in Lawrence on October 3, 1953 to the late Anthony S. and Carmela (Grasso) Nicolosi. Joseph was a graduate of Central Catholic High School with the class of 1971. He then went on to attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was employed by Raytheon in Andover for over 35 years where he was a Cell Lead in Logistics. Joseph was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He enjoyed fishing and golf, both playing and watching on TV. He also greatly enjoyed playing cribbage and sudoku, watching NCIS, going on yard walks, bird-watching and will always be remembered for his love of Devil Dogs and Dunkin Donuts coffee. He loved working at Raytheon and had high hopes of returning someday. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and he will be missed deeply. In addition to his wife, Brenda, Joseph is survived by his three children Matthew Nicolosi of Lowell, Lauren Nicolosi of Tyngsboro, and Nathan Nicolosi of Dracut; 2 sisters Constance Cunningham and her husband Howard of Sandwich, NH, and Lucille Daly and her husband William of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Mother in law Muriel Mogé of Dracut; 2 brothers in-law Kenneth Mogé and his wife Sharon of Nashua, NH, and Robert Mogé of Amherst, NH; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Joseph was predeceased by his sister Sarah “Sally” Costello, as well as his father in law Robert Mogé. NASHUA, NH- Kevin Patrick Kearney, 27, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014; He has left this world, but will never leave our hearts. Kevin was born in Nashua, NH on February 20, 1987. He was the beloved son of David S. Kearney Sr. and the late Diane (Simpson) Kearney. Kevin was a graduate of both Tyngsboro High School and UMASS Lowell, earning a Bachelor Degree. He was employed as a construction inspector for UTS in Stoneham, MA. In addition to his father, he is survived by his two brothers: David Kearney Jr. of Manchester and Ryan Kearney and his wife Alitia of Nashua; and his maternal grandfather Herbert Simpson of Chelmsford. He is also survived by multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins. “I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. DRACUT- Gerald L. Couture, 79, died peacefully, Thursday, December 18th, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the loving husband of Rita J. (Adams) with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Gerald was born in Lowell, MA on February 24, 1935, a son of the late Agnes (Simard) and Telesphore Couture. Gerry was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Lowell and then went on to serve his country proudly as part of the US Army during the Korean War, until being honorably discharged. For many years, Gerald worked as a supervisor for Lowell Lingerie. Gerald had a strong faith in God and his church, and dedicated a lot of time there, whether helping with funerals or being a Eucharistic minister. DRACUT- Frank J. Kukulski, Jr., of Dracut, beloved husband of Mary Jane (Kondra) Kukulski, and devoted father to Amanda L. Kukulski and Kendra M. Kukulski, passed away peacefully at his home, on Friday, December 19, 2014, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Frank was employed as a truck driver by Northeast Refrigerated Distributing Co., Inc. of Tewksbury, MA, for the past 17 years. He was a member of the East End Club of Lowell, MA. Born on September 19, 1955, he was the son of the late Frank J. Kukulski, Sr. and Martha A. (Jarek) Kukulski, and was raised in Lowell, MA, graduating from Lowell High School, Class of 1973. The importance of family instilled by his parents was evident by the special bond he shared with his daughters. He was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed vacationing in York Beach, Maine, snowmobiling in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, trips to Disney World and Bahamas with his family. Frank also enjoyed duck pin bowling and competed professionally on the pro tour in his younger years. He loved working in his yard and took pride in winning the neighborhood lawn wars several years running. However, his favorite times were those which were shared with and surrounded by family and friends. In addition to his wife of 33 years, Mary Jane Kukulski and his daughters Amanda and Kendra Kukulski, Frank leaves, four sisters, Cheryl Clark, of Salisbury, MA, Karen and Edwin Bozek, of Dracut, MA, Jill Pimentel, of Dracut, MA and Robin and John Lyman of Dracut, MA, as well as three brothers, Robert Kukulski and Cheryl Sargent, of Dunstable, MA, William and Ann Kukulski, of Hampstead, NH and Brian and Debra Kukulski, of Dracut, MA. He also leaves his father and mother-in-law, John and Mary Kondra of Deland, FL, and three sisters-in-law, Carole Williams, of Lowell, MA, Marilyn and George Skianes, of Salisbury, MA and Janice and Robert Bagshaw, of East Kingston, NH, his Godmother, Nancy Picanso, of Lowell, MA, a special family member, Patricia Robertson, of Dracut, MA his pal, Bailey, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. DRACUT- Barbara H. Cyr, 77, died peacefully, Monday, December 22nd, at the Wingate at Belvidere in Lowell, with her family by her side. She was the loving widow of the late Robert Cyr. Barbara was born in Lawrence on March 10, 1937, daughter of the late Ida (Fredrickson) and Raymond Lees. She was educated in Lawrence and a graduate of Lawrence High School. For 13 years, Barbara worked in the Cafeteria for Raytheon in Bedford, MA. Barbara enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and shopping but most importantly spending time her her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all of them. Barbara is surived by her 6 children, Sharon Beaudoin and her husband Robert of Dracut, Linda Cyr and her companion Bill Tarmey of Tyngsboro, Gary Cyr and his wife Joanne of Dracut, Joanne Carter and her husband Kevin of Dracut, David Cyr of Florida and Keith Cyr of Lowell; her siblings, Charlotte Albert and her husband Roger of Salem, NH, Robert Lees of Andover, Jack Lees and his wife Nancy of Florida; close friends, Marlene and Ray Cebula of Dracut; 13 cherished grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law and friend, Rita Lees. The family would like to thank all of the Nurses and staff at the Wingate at Belvidere for all of the care and compassion they showed to Barbara during her time there. Victoria C. (Janowicz) Pelletier Loving wife, mother, nana. DRACUT- Victoria C. (Janowicz) Pelletier, 88, passed away peacefully at her home on December 24, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Joseph L. Pelletier who will truly miss her. Victoria was born on December 12, 1926, the daughter of the late Victoria (Rawlinowicz) and Joseph Janowicz. For many years, Victoria was employed in the field of electronics, but she considered being being a devoted wife, mother, and nana her most important job. Victoria enjoyed cooking for her family, especially during the holidays. She was noted for her delicious gingerbread people at Christmas time. She loved to crochet and make beautiful afghans. She also enjoyed toll painting handcrafted crafts, and working in her garden of flowers and vegetables. She loved scratching Massachusetts lottery tickets, as she was always waiting for the big winner. Victoria also loved Foxwoods, but complained all the way home that she left her money there. Her house was always immaculate and decorated beautifully. Spring and Fall cleaning was a yearly task, and her first words to you when you came in for a visit were always “TAKE your shoes OFF!” Her face glowed whenever great grandchildren came over for a visit. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her four children, Victoria (Whitcomb) Mullin and her husband Robert of Hudson, NH, Irving Joseph Whitcomb, of Lowell, Sharon Dupont and her partner Charles Maraganis of Lowell, and Janice (Pelletier) Estes and her husband Richard of Burlington, NC; one sister, Helen (Janowicz) Baribeault of Dracut; Nine grandchildren Rob, Stephen, Andrea, Jeff, Jennifer, Stephanie, Ryan, Candace, and Patty; as well as 16 great grandchildren. Victoria was predeceased by her six brothers, Joseph, Konstanty, Frank, Stanley, Peter, and Walter, as well as her sister Mary. DRACUT- Dorothy Osborne Patch, 93, a long time Dracut resident passed away peacefully on Sunday at Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chelmsford, MA after a long illness. For sixty years she was the wife of Douglas Patch who passed away on September 25, 2008. She was born in Magog, Quebec Canada on November 21, 1921, the daughter of John H. Peasley and Eliza Osborne Peasley and emigrated to the United States when she was two. She attended Dracut Public Schools and graduated from Dracut High School in 1938. The Old Yellow Meeting House church was a focal point of her life and she served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible school leader and in various women’s fellowship organizations. She was a stay-at-home Mom when her children were young and later in life worked at the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, MA. Dorothy’s family greatly appreciate the exceptional care shown by the staff of Sunny Acres during her time there. She is survived by two sons David Patch and Donald Patch and his wife Nancy. She took great pleasure in time spent with her grandchildren and their families; Richard Patch, his wife Jennifer and their son Wayne, Jonathan Patch his wife Kim and their daughter Emma, Jessica Carville and Christopher Patch. She was the sister of the late Irene Mullins, Kathlyn Dixon and John Peasley and the aunt of the late Dorothy Dunderdale.
