DRACUT- John Pantazopoulos, 73, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Ekaterini (Tsipounis) Pantazopoulos with whom he would have shared 45 years of marriage on March 1st. John was born on October 9, 1941 in Filiatra, Messinias, Greece. He was the son of the late Konstantinos and Panagiota (Kiriakou) Pantazopoulos. John was educated in Greece and received his Bachelor’s degree in Athens. Prior to his retirement he owned and operated Winner’s Pizza in Tewksbury for many years. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son Konstantinos “Dino” Pantazopoulos of New York; his sister, Anastasia Paganis and her husband Antonios of Arlington, MA; as well as relatives in Greece. John was predeceased by his son George Pantazopoulos on April 23, 2007. DRACUT- Stanley A. Araszkiewicz, 85, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitaion Center. He was the beloved husband of Shirley Mae (Stokham) Araszkiewicz. Stanley was born on July 22, 1929 in Dracut, MA. He was the son of the late Jozef and Caroline (Balcewicz) Araszkiewicz. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a meat cutter for Essem Packing Co. in Lawrence and was most recently employed as a machinist at Raytheon for 20 years. In his free time, Stanley was an avid fisherman. He especially enjoyed trout, stream, and ocean fishing. He loved to cook and try new recipes. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Stanley D. Araszkiewicz and his wife Laurie- Ann Branchaud of Dracut; his sister Lambertha “Tunney” Alibrandi and her husband Joseph of Malibu, CA, and his brother Frederick A. Araszkiewicz and his wife Helen of Plaistow, NH. He is also survived by his granddaughter Amy Petitti and her husband Christopher of Dracut; as well as his two great-grandchildren, Adriana and Natalia. Stanley was predeceased by his sisters Genevieve Mikstas and Josephine Elston. DRACUT- Annette Mary (Courtemarche) Rondeau, 63, passed away Saturday, January 17th, at Lowell General Hospital with her family by her side, after a long illness. Annette was born in Lowell, MA on May 14, 1951, a daughter of the late Annette (Bouchard) and John F. Courtemarche. She was a loving and caring women who always put her family first despite her illness. She will be sadly missed by her family whom loved her so much. New Ipswich, NH- David L. Turcotte, 64, longtime resident of Pelham, NH, died peacefully, Wednesday, January 21st, at Massachusetts General Hospital with his family by his side. He was the loving and funny husband of Claudia (Gertig) Turcotte , with whom he was married for 40 years. David, the youngest of seven, was born in Lowell, MA on October 14th, 1950, son of the late Blanche (Gervais) and Felix J. Turcotte. David was an electrician by trade and worked for many years at Wang Laboratories and most recently at Condyne, LLC. In his free time he enjoyed spending time on his pontoon boat with his bride, children and grandchildren. When he wasn’t captaining his pontoon boat, you could find him in his garage working on his bride’s never ending honey-do- list. In addition to his bride, he is survived by his children, Sharon Turcotte, Darren Turcotte, Karen Cruz and Lauren Goode; his grandchildren, Kylan, Alison, Brayden, Hailee, Makayla, Kenzley, Olivia, and he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Rylie. TYNGSBORO- John “Big Jay” Alexa, Jr., died peacefully at his home in Tyngsboro on Thursday, January 22, 2015 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Darryl Ruth (O’Hagan) Alexa, with whom he shared 42 loving years of marriage. Jay was born in Lowell on March 13, 1946, a son of the late Leona (Sanford) and John J. Alexa, Sr. He was a graduate of the Newman Preparatory School in Boston, and then went on to attend Rivier College where he earned his Masters Degree in Business. Prior to his retirement, Jay was the Vice President of Hancock Machining . Jay proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War and was a disabled veteran. SALEM, NH- Theodore J. Babine, 94, of Methuen, died peacefully on Thursday January 22nd at the Salem Haven Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Catherine H (MacInnis) Babine, who died on December 19, 1989. Theodore was born on September 18, 1920 in Lower Eelbrook, Nova Scotia, Canada, a son of the late Esley and Emily (Jacquard) Babine. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Amsterdam, until he was honorably discharged. For over 25 years, Theodore was a Medical Supply Assembler at Ferno Forge in Wilmington. Theodore is survived and will be deeply missed by his three children, Theodore E. Babine and his wife Rose of Andover, Edward D. Babine and his wife Theresa of Saugus, and Jessie A. LOWELL- Tan D. Nguyen, 47, of Dracut, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 21, 2015 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Lieu Thi Do, with whom he spent 25 loving years of marriage. Tan was born on November 17, 1967 in Saigon, Vietnam, a son to Da Van Nguyen and Chuc Nguyen. He was a graduate of UMass Lowell, where he earned his Bachelors degree. Tan was a Software Engineer for many years. At IBM and Pega Systems in Cambridge. In addition to his wife, Lieu, he is survived by his two sons, Jonathan M. Nguyen, and Peter H. Nguyen, both of Dracut, as well as many friends, colleagues, and family members in the United States and Vietnam. Matthew (Matty) Thomas Heathcock, age 37 …beloved by all… Matthew (Matty) Thomas Heathcock, age 37, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Lowell on Saturday, January 24, 2015. He was the special gift and cherished son of D. Gary and Robin K. (Mayall) Heathcock. Matthew entered this world bringing with him great joy on September 13, 1977. He grew up in Lowell, attended Lowell Public Schools and graduated from Lowell High School in 1995. He briefly attended the University of Lowell prior to making a career in landscaping. He founded Shamrock Landscaping several years ago; he loved and enjoyed his work immensely. When he became ill, it brought him great joy to have his father keep the company going, which he continues to do to this day. Most recently, Matty was a meeting facilitator for the SMART Recovery® program, a program which helped him work through his own personal dragons and demons with great success. He found his meetings and the people he helped to be one of the most rewarding aspects of his short life. Matty loved music, especially the Grateful Dead and old-school house music, and was always happy to be out on the dance floor. He had a kind, loving and caring heart and a wonderful and happy sense of humor. He watched every Boston Bruins game that he could and named the family’s rescued chocolate lab Bruin, in honor of his favorite team. Bruin misses him every day. Matty was also a member of the Christ Church United in Dracut and a member of the Knickerbocker Social Club in Lowell. Besides his parents, Matthew leaves his paternal grandparents Donald and Thelma Heathcock of Lowell, his maternal grandmother, Sarah (Sally) Mayall of Lowell, his step-grandmother, Helen Mayall of Florida; his aunts and uncles, Susan L. (Rainy) Pergakis and her husband George, Mark and Mary Mayall and David and Gretchen Mayall, all of Dracut, his cousins Adam Pergakis of Haverhill, Melissa Pergakis of Salisbury, Kendra Ashe of Texas, and Tristan Mayall of Dracut. Matty leaves many dear and wonderful friends, most especially his best friend and “brother” Jamie Gendreau, and his dear “sisters” Candia Martel, Dawn Hurley and Stefani Bush. There will be no calling hours. Instead, all are invited to a celebration of Matthew’s life, which will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Christ Church United, 10 Arlington Street, Dracut, MA at 10 AM. Burial will be private in the spring, one of Matthew’s favorite times of the year. LOWELL- Alexander M. “Al” Peters, Jr., died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Lowell General Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Denise G. (Ouellette) Peters, with whom he shared 15 loving years of marriage. Al was born in Somerville on August 22, 1947, a son of the late Mary E. (McConnon) and Alexander M. Peters, Sr. Upon graduating Dracut High School in 1965, Al went on to proudly serve his country in The United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served a term of almost four years, two of which he was stationed in Germany, until he was honorably discharged. For over 20 years, Al owned and operated the former Aldens Discount of Dracut, inc. on Broadway Road, and then on Lakeview Avenue with his wife Denise. Al was an avid fisherman and New England sports fan. He also enjoyed gardening and doing yard work, but above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Al is survived by his three sons, Brian Lussier and his wife Kari of Denver, CO, Eric Lussier and his wife Mary Beth of Lowell, and Randy Lussier and his wife Sara of Wesley Chapel, FL; two siblings, Patricia Mote of Dracut, and John Peters and his wife Doris of Dracut; and five grandchildren, Dehlia, Nolan, Eli, Keith, and Lily Lussier. NASHUA, NH- Stanley J. Ogonowski, 92, a lifelong resident of Dracut, died peacefully Thursday morning, February 12, 2015 at Nashua Crossings in Nashua, NH, surrounded by his loving family. Stanley was predeceased by his beloved wife, Frances (Niemaszyk) Ogonowski with whom he shared 53 years of marriage, until her passing in 2003. Stanley was born in Dracut on January 25, 1923. He was the son of the late John and Apolonia (Jakubczyk) Ogonowski. He was educated in the Dracut School Systems and was a graduate of Dracut High School with the class of 1940. He proudly served his country during WWII, serving in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged in 1947. Prior to his retirement in 1990, Stanley was employed as a welder for Process Engineering in Plaistow, NH for 35 years. He was also a member of the Polish American Veterans Club in Lowell. John enjoyed fishing, bowling and dancing, but his most cherished time was spent with his family. Together they enjoyed going to barbecues and parties, going to the beach, and going out to eat. She enjoyed traveling, reading, listening to the Beatles and watching horror and disaster films. She also had a love for cats and horses. Donna was a relaxed and loving person whom took pride in caring for her family. She was fun loving and had a good sense of humor that her family will miss dearly. DRACUT- Nicholas G. Panas, 79, a life long resident of Dracut, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 19, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Loukia (Georgaras) Panas with whom they shared 46 years of marriage. Nicholas was born in Dracut on July 15, 1935. He was the son of the late George and Stamatina Panageotopoulos. He was a graduate of Dracut High School with the class of 1953. Prior to his retirement, Nicholas was employed as a court officer for the Lowell District Court for 40 years. The last ten years of his employment he was the assistant chief court officer. In his free time, Nick was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He was a life long member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell. Above all, his most precious and cherished time was spent with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Nicholas is survived by his two children George Panas, Esq. and James Panas, Esq. and his wife Shannon all of Dracut; his grandchildren Nicholas, Anastasia, Katherine, and Nicole Panas. ANDOVER- Jeanne Terese (Sprague) Desmond, 85, passed away on February 21, 2015 surrounded by family. She married the late Francis Desmond in 1954 and spent nearly fifty years with him as a devoted wife. They started their family in Arlington, MA and later moved to McAllen, TX. Jeanne was born to Harold and Annie Sprague, she grew up in Cambridge, MA with her late siblings, Charlie, Dorothy and Mary Louise and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. Jeanne worked as a copywriter for the Crest Fruit Company and completed an English degree with honors, a lifelong goal, from UT Pan-American. She lived in Burlington, VT during retirement, volunteering at the schools and local library. An avid reader, Jeanne enjoyed the company of good books, crossword puzzles and cups of tea. Other things that brought Jeanne pleasure were gardening, sewing, music, and a good bargain. Above all, Jeanne delighted in the joys of raising five children: Brian and his wife, Catalina; Peter and his wife, Betty, all of McAllen, TX; Karen Desmond Dantzscher of Burlington, VT; Donald and his wife, Barbara, of Concord, NH; and Maryanne Gauthier and her husband, Marc, of Dracut, MA. Her Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on WEDNESDAY, Feb 25th at 9 AM followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Francis Church, Dracut. Arlene Breault
CHELMSFORD- Arlene Breault, 83 years young at heart and a longtime resident of Dracut, died peacefully after a prolonged illness on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Palm Center Nursing Home in Chelmsford. Arlene was born in Newton, MA on January 28, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Armand E. and Ella G. (Quinn) Breault. She held a Ph.D. in elementary education and devoted her life to teaching young minds. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a teacher in the Tewksbury School System for over 35 years teaching at the North School. During her last years, Arlene shared her life with her best friend Paul Pedneault and his family, who adopted her into their family. They all enjoyed music, cooking, and family gatherings. In addition to Paul and the Pedeault family , Arlene will be deeply missed by two special friends in her life, Ty Hobbs and Mr. and Mrs. Elias Ghadban and family. She is also survived by Jacqueline Sheehan of Dracut, Grace Pedneault of Everett; and her niece Gloria Viens and her husband Ernest of Bradford. She was predeceased by her siblings, Estelle Boissoneault, Ann Charlton, Florence Carufel, Armand Breault Jr., Frank Quinn and Jean Breault. Arlene’s family and friends would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Palm Center for their care and compassion towards Arlene during her time there. ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME on SUNDAY, March 1st from 1- 4 PM. Her Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on MONDAY, March 2nd at 8 AM followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Marguerite D’Youville Church at 9 AM. Burial is private.
