Dracut – Alexander F Ogonowski ,95, of longtime resident of Dracut died peacefully on June 2nd 2015. He was the loving husband of Theresa (Dawidowicz) Ogonowski with whom they recently celebrated 67 years of marriage. Alexander was born in Dracut the son of Jan and Apolonia (Jakubczyk) Ogonowski. Alexander received his early education in a one room school house in East Dracut. He graduated Dracut High School class of 1939. He attended the Massachusetts school of Agriculture (now University of mass Amherst-Stockbridge) and graduated in class on 1942 where he received a degree in animal Science. While in college he was a member of Alpha Tau Gamma fraternity. Immediately after college he joined the Army Air Corps and served as a B-17 bomber crewmember. He was honorable discharged after WW2 ended. Active in the agricultural community he was a member of the Mass Farm Bureau and served on the board of directors for many years. He owned and operated one of the largest farms in Dracut where he could be seen on his tractor until last summer. Active in many fraternal organizations, he was on the board of directors for the James Underwood Crockett foundation. He was a member of the Dracut grange # 216, Dracut historical society, Dracut American legion post 315, the Polish American Veterans of Lowell and the Holy Trinity Polish Catholic Church of Lowell which was started by his late uncle Monsignor Ogonowski. Alexander was employed by Standard oil of NJ ( now Exxon Mobil) for 39 years. After retiring he enjoyed travelling, particularly to visit his children and to the annual American Farm bureau conventions. Alexander had a great love for his family, his country, his farm and his community. He will be deeply missed by all of the lives he touched. Alexander is survived by his wife Theresa, Daughters LT Col Dolores Quigley USAF (ret) and her husband LT Col Hale Quigley USAF (ret) of Pensacola Fl and daughter Carol Ogonowski of Dracut . Sons LT Col James Ogonowski USAF (ret) and his Wife Kathleen of Dracut and son Joseph Ogonowski and his wife Inez of Newport Mi. a daughter in law Margaret Ogonowski Hatch of Dracut and a Brother Dr Albert S Ogonowski DDS of Dracut. Alexander also leaves 8 grandchildren Christine, Laura, Charles, Caroline, Catherine, Mary, Alexander and Alanna and 5 great grandchildren Mackenzie, James, Amelia, Sarah and Harrison and numerous nieces and nephews He was predeceased by his son Capt John Ogonowski pilot of American Airlines Flt 11 on Sept 11 2001. Also sisters Mary Swerchesky, Rose Panek and Helen Ogonowski and brothers Walter, Frank and Stanley.
