TYNGSBORO- Richard T. Connolly, 79, died peacefully on February 9th at Lowell General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Melodie R. (Rogers) Connolly. Richard was born on August 31, 1934 in Boston, MA. He was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Breen) Connolly. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the city of Woburn as a cemetery caretaker for 25 years and later retired from Joan Fabrics in Lowell. In his free time Richard was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed baseball and hockey. He was a baseball coach for many years for the Acre section of Lowell but his most cherished time was spent with his family, whom he loved very much. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Melodie “Ruth” Bray and her husband Joe of VA, Marilyn Tomblin of Nashua, NH, Laura Terilli of Lowell, Richard Connolly Jr. of Lowell, Robert Fraser and his wife Natalya of NH, Suzzane Connolly of Dracut, Melissa Turgeon and her husband Kenneth of Tyngsboro, Jean Connolly of NY, Randy Fraser and his wife Lisa of Milford,NH, Patricia Holroyd of NY, and William McAllister and his wife Paula of Lowell; his 37 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as his best friend and pal Buddy. Richard is predeceased by his son James “Jimmy” Connolly. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut on Wednesday, February 12th from 9 AM until 12 PM. His funeral service will follow at 12 PM in the funeral home. Interment in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
