Julia (Perry) Magiera

Dunstable, MA- Julia J. (Stefanek) (Perry) Magiera, 99, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, March 18th, peacefully in her home with loving members of her family by her side. She was the widow of the late Emil J. Magiera, who passed away in 1950. Julia was born in Turner’s Falls, MA on January 10, 1915, a daughter of the late Katherine (Bujak) and Alexander J. Stefanek both born in Poland. After graduating from high school, Julia worked for several Lowell businesses and retired after 20 years, as an Executive Administrator for the Raytheon Corporation. She had a way of drawing people to her, ever ready to enjoy a gathering of family and friends. With a welcoming greeting, she made everyone feel like the center of attention. Julia had an endearing smile that made friends and new acquaintances alike feel as if they had known her forever. For many years she was an active member of the Dunstable senior citizens group, and regularly participated in the Chelmsford Senior Day Care Program and was a long-time member of the TOPS program, where she made many warm and caring friendships. She was a life long member of St. Casimir’s Polish National Catholic Church in Lowell, where she sang in the choir and participated in several other church organizations. She was proud of her Polish heritage and spoke and wrote the language fluently. At her passing, Julia was the caretaker of the gold cane, indicating that she was the oldest citizen in Dunstable, MA, her home for more than 30 years. You could often see her in holiday parades with her gold cane, riding and waving to the crowds. With her daughter, Julie Joyce, she attended dog agility trials and made numerous friends, that will deeply miss her warm greetings and encouragement. Julia is survived by and will be deeply missed by her 4 children, Emil R. Magiera and his wife Donna of No. Chelmsford, Julie Treinis and her husband Andrew of Dunstable, Kathleen Sullivan and her husband James of Midland, MI, and James Magiera and his wife Susan of Mt. Vernon, NH; 8 grandchildren, Cheryl, Pamela, Dickie, Lisa, Elizabeth, Katherine, Seamus, and Patrick; 7 great-grandchildren, Scott, Alicia, Brittany, Abigale, Emily, Anna, and 2 month old Julianna;,1 great-great-grandson, Isiah; and Dusty, her faithful dog of 15 years. She is also survived by her dearest friend of 97 years, Helen Rogers of Pelham, NH., and is also missed and loved by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved siblings, a brother Edward Stefanek and her sisters, Mary Blazonis and Genevieve McCabe, as well as her dear friend of 95 years Mary Pochlopek. ARRANGEMENTS: At Julia’s request all services are private and arrangements are under the direction of the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, MA. A memorial mass will take place at the convenience of family. It was Julia’s request that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her memory to St. Casimir’s Polish National Catholic Church, 268 Lakeview Ave, Lowell, MA 01850, or the Chelmsford Senior Center, 75 Groton Road, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
