LOWELL- Gayla J. (Dubey) (Carter) Ireland, 56, died peacefully, September 30, 2015 at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Susan E. Ireland with whom she shared 11 years of marriage. Gayla was born in Chelmsford on June 24, 1959. She was the daughter of the late John E. Dubey Sr. and Gladys M. (Mueller) Dubey. She was employed as a general manager for Store 24 Corporation for over 20 years and managed the Appleton Street store. In her free time, Gayla loved puzzles and playing board games. She also enjoyed her many trips to Maine, but her most cherished time was spent with family, especially time with her grandchildren. In addition to her wife, Gayla is survived by her four children, Harmony (Carter) Bourassa and her partner Soun Chanthavong of Lowell, Rocco Carter III and his wife Amanda of Chelmsford, Anthony Carter and his wife Sandi of Dracut, and Lindsey Carter and her partner Danny Lemire of Lowell; her sister Kim Dubey of Hudson, NH; as well as her 11 grandchildren, Rocco IV, Troy, Katie, Kendra, Alyssa, Dezaray, Austin, Brooke, Asia, Aidan, and Madilyn; her in-laws, Donald and Dorothy Ireland of Oxford, MA; her best friend and ex-husband, Rocco Carter Jr. of Tamworthm NH; as well as many nieces and nephews. Gayla is predeceased by her brother John Dubey Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut on SATURDAY, Oct. 3rd from 10 until 2 PM. Burial will take place on SATURDAY, Oct. 10th at 9 AM in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dialysis Department or the Diabetes Department C/O Lowell General Hospital, 295 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854.
