Byrl Hunter

TYNGSBORO, MA – Byrl C. (Rice) Hunter, 88, died peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2015 at her home of 70 years, surrounded by her loving family. Byrl was the wife of the late Earl H. Hunter, who predeceased her in 2007. They shared 62 years of marriage.  Born in Pepperell on March 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Donald E. and Erma V. (Logan) Rice. Byrl was employed at Bemis Bag Shop in Pepperell until marrying her love, Earl on April 28, 1946 and raising her family. She devoted her life to caring for her family whom she loved dearly. In her free time she worked on the family farm with her husband. After her children were grown, Byrl enjoyed traveling to places like Florida, California, Hawaii and many other destinations. She was a talented cook and made endless delicious meals for the entire Hunter family, but she also enjoyed trying new restaurants and going out to eat.  Byrl is survived by her two sons, Allan Hunter of Center Barnstead, NH and Arthur Hunter of New Ipswich, NH; her five daughters Linda Connell and her husband Warren of Tyngsboro, Paula Hamel of New Ipswich, Susan Bourdeau of Loudon, NH, Lisa Hunter also of Loudon, NH, and Faith Hunter of Tyngsboro; sisters, Thurlo Dow of Pepperell and Edith Tarr of Florida, and her brother Carlton Rice of Merrimack, NH. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, Jamie, Karin, Danielle, Charmaine, Jesse, Casey, Nicole, Leland, Crystal, Justin, Chris, Sonya, Michelle, and Steve; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; her caregiver and friend Linda Medeiros, who gave her the greatest care for 18 months, as well as her beloved cat Tommy who never left her side, and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, Byrl is predeceased by her daughter Shirley Rancourt, grandsons Jason and Adam Hamel; her siblings Roger and Edward Rice and Anita Buckingham.  ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut on FRIDAY, August 21st from 5 until 6:45 p.m. Her funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
