Joseph L. Pelletier WWII and Korean Veteran DRACUT- Joseph L. “Lee” Pelletier, 85, died peacefully, Tuesday, June 23rd, at his home with family by his side. Joe was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Victoria (Janowicz) Pelletier, who passed on December 24, 2014. Joseph was born in Lowell, MA on August 21, 1929, son of the late Raymond and Blanche (Rochette) Pelletier. Joe was a loving husband, father, and gramps-pup. He met Vicky who had three children; married her and they later had a daughter. He loved all four children equally and unconditionally- teaching them to swim and fish while camping many summers on Cape Cod. He worked as a welder for many years and became management. He was very talented as family and friends turned to him as he did carpentry, plumbing, electrical, wall papering and painting. He enjoyed hot summers in the garden and weeding. Sunday afternoon Bingo with family, rides to Foxwoods, scratching lottery tickets, and working on crafts with Vicky.. He loved traveling cross country on Amtrak with his wife, visiting Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and San Francisco. He loved watching Red Sox Baseball games on TV, and especially loved playing Cribbage. Joe was proud to serve his country. He enlisted in the US Army on September 18, 1946 at the age of 17. He received his GED in Takashima, Japan where he was a welder for motor vehicles. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on June 20, 1949. He later enlisted in the US Air Force on January 28, 1952 and was honorably discharged as Sergeant – Military Police on November 26, 1955. His tours of duty overseas included Japan, Africa and Germany. He is survived and loved by his four children, Janice (Pelletier) Estes and her husband Richard of Burlington, NC, Sharon Dupont and her partner Charles Maraganis of Lowell, Irving Joseph Whitcomb of Lowell and Victoria (Whitcomb) Mullin and her husband Robert of Hudson, NH; nine grandchildren, Jeff, Jennifer, Stephanie, Rob, Stephen, Andrea, Patty, Ryan, Candace; as well as 16 great grandchildren; sister, Blanche Aubin of Hudson, NH; sisters-in-law, Margaret Pelletier of South Yarmouth and Helen Baribeault of Dracut, as well as several nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Pelletier. The family would like to thank Kathy and Lynne his caregivers for the love and caring they gave to their dad. ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 9:30-11 a.m. on SATURDAY, June 27th at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. His funeral will directly follow at 11:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, all in Lowell.
