Richard Wagner

DRACUT- Richard R. Wagner, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Blaire House Nursing Home in Tewksbury. He was the beloved husband of Jeanne C. (Poirier) Wagner with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on October 9th. Richard was born in Dracut on November 30, 1926. He was the son of the late Gideon Wagner and Aldea (Rivet) Wagner. He proudly served his country during W.W.II as part of the United States Navy, until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Richard was employed at Hanscom Field Airforce Base as a Supervisory Mail Clerk until his retirement in 1984. He later worked at First Security Services. Richard was a professional musician, playing piano with local bands at various clubs and events. He was an avid duckpin bowler in his younger days and always enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Boston College Football and the New England Patriots. In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by two children; Douglas Wagner and his wife Sherrill of Dracut and Scott Wagner of Hudson, NH; his sister, Loretta Jacques of Lowell; 3 grandchildren Sabrina, Joshua, and Andrew, as well as many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his son, Bryant Wagner in 1991, as well as ten of his siblings. ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut on FRIDAY, August 22nd from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. His funeral service will follow in the Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
