William T. “Pops” Gauthier Of Lowell; 78 William T. “Pops” Gauthier, 78, of Lowell, died Saturday evening, March 22, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus surrounded by his loving family. A son of the late William H. Gauthier and Angeline (Gosselin) Gauthier, he was born on January 2, 1936 in Lowell and received his education from the Lowell Vocational High School. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a painter for the former St. John’s Hospital. He was also an upholsterer and worked for his son at Billy’s Variety. He was an avid reader and loved to listen to the music of Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. He liked to play the trumpet and do crossword puzzles. Most of all, he loved to engage people in conversations. He was the ultimate story teller and enjoyed making people laugh. He is survived by his eight children, Jeanne Fleming and her husband, Thomas, of Chelmsford, Jacqueline Beauregard and her husband, Joseph, of Dracut, Judith Gauthier and her companion, Arthur Hearl, of Ohio, Joanne Janeczko and her husband, Thomas, of Dracut, William G. Gauthier of Dracut, Thomas Gauthier and his wife, Diane, of Lowell, Arthur Gauthier of Dracut, and David Gauthier of Colorado; his 17 grandchildren, Cpt. Andrew Fleming and his wife, Rebecca, Sarah Brown and her husband, Jeremy, Colleen Fleming, Lt. Elizabeth Fleming, Cadet Kevin Fleming, Joseph Beauregard, Mark Beauregard and his wife, Jessica, Kevin Beauregard and his wife, Sarah, Eric Beauregard, Stephen and Kimberly Janeczko, Matthew, Brandon, Andrew and Brittany Gauthier, Wayne Sumner, and Hannah Gauthier; 5 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law Paul Leduc, of Tynsgboro; his sister-in-law, Nancy Gauthier, of Florida; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends at Billy’s Variety. He is predeceased by his siblings Rev. Raymond Gauthier, Louise Gauthier, Robert Gauthier, and Janet Leduc. Bill’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff in the ICU at Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus for their utmost care and compassion. ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut on Wednesday, March 26th from 4 until 8 PM. His Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Thursday, March 27th at 9 AM followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Francis Church, Dracut. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
